The Spankification of History

vintage spankingThe last few days have been a blur of old house and castles. It is surprising how great and varied such places can be. But there are a few constants; all these places seemed to be chocked full of so-called pervertables.

You would swear that every bedroom has a wooden contraption shaped like a paddle or a switch like object. These items were probably innocent tools for striking the stoke-gimbles or for polishing the gubbings or some such, but they have a habit of looking remarkably like spanking or punishment implements. So it does not take a great imagination to think that at least once some of these objects were put to such uses.

Then there are the vast arrays of paddles in the laundries and kitchens. Country house dairies seem to have every size of butter paddle for instance. Considering the proliferation of maids it is perhaps a given that these things got used for spanking; they are far too suitable for such activity not to be.

Then as you stroll around glancing at these objects you chance across saddle-stools and other suggestive furniture that would not be out of place in Magic or Spankmanship.

Can it all be in one’s head? Maybe it is, as one just can’t look at a four-poster bed without seeing the potential of securing a woman’s wrists.

Then all at once you see a strange object with leather cords hanging from it alongside a thin crop-like implement in the corner of a cabinet. What could they be for? You mind can think of no innocent purpose and you just have to read the label next to it.

‘Scourge and punishment whip’ it reads.

Of course, nothing hidden; servants and other miscreants were punished and in days of yore there was a tool for every job and for every task a tool. So why would our forebears improvise? Sometimes maybe you can look so hard that you can miss the obvious.
